I found this on social media by Hugh Laurie. Not sure if his words or not but this resonated with me.
“It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”

I have been alternating between feeling ready and feeling not ready. Calm and panic. Packing and repacking. This weekend I am biking the Paparoa track on the orange beast for something completely different.
Fitness wise I think I am ready. I know I think I could have done more, trained differently etc however this is a long ride and endurance and mindset is key. I am getting excited, it’s going to be a big adventure and fully biking the Queen Charlotte track again after last biking it in the summer of 2010 will be fab.
Knowing the Kenepuru Road is closed and that the route is the full Queen Charlotte track is helpful, no ambiguity. The information and instructions are super clear from the Kennett brothers and alternative routes are clear too. Still to decide if I bother with *.gpx files on the Garmin or go off the guide book plus alternate info. Gpx files could be a good backup.
