We had a nice cruisy drive up to Picton. Left around 10am and had a beaut lunch at Simes cafe (ex-Hislops cafe). I have been very fortunate in that my friend Shona has driven me up here and she’s prepared for the very very early start tomorrow. 5am is the alarm time and it’s all systems go. Gear on, breakfast eaten, retrieve water and sandwiches from the fridge, and off to the wharf to load the bikes up at 6am. Might be riding about 7.30am and I am really hoping Furneaux Lodge has the coffee machine fired up for when I pedal past.

We can ride the road from Kenepuru Saddle to Te Mahia which I would say most will do as nearly everyone is heading back to Picton for the night. I have booked into Mistletoe Eco Village so looking forward to being out in the sounds for night one.
