An inadvertent short day for me today. I wondered if I would come across a mistake in my planning and this is the first one (hopefully the only one).

I think when I had trouble finding accommodation at Rakaia gorge I had decided to bike 15kms off course to stay in Methven. So I would have booked Oxford knowing I had added extra kms. When I changed to Mt Hutt Lodge I did not go back and look at the previous day’s distances.

So today is a bonus active rest day 🙂

I had a sleep in and checked out Percival Street Bakery for breakfast. They had hot cross buns and coffee and filled rolls – superb bakery.

Then I cruised to Oxford, most of which was familiar roads due to riding the road bike out here over the years. Light spillover rain showers but still very warm and humid. Lunch at cafe 51 and soon to head off to check out tonight’s accomodation and the laundry. Such excitement. Only 2 cool letterboxes and one sign on the way here today.
